Seattle civic leader and patron of the arts. Guendolen Carkeek Plestcheeff was born in Seattle in 1892 at the First Hill mansion home of her parents, British-born Morgan and Emily Carkeek. She was married twice, first to Italian diplomat Paulo G. Brenna, and after their divorce in 1928, to Russian aristocrat Theodor Plestcheeff. Vivian Morgan Carkeek, son of Morgan and Emily Carkeek, was born November 23, 1879. He was a member of the first class (1901) of the University of Washington Law School. He went into legal practice upon receiving his degree and was a partner in the firm of Carkeek, McDonald, Harris and Coryell. He was active in Seattle civic and social affairs, and served as president of the Seattle Historical Society. Carkeek was nominated for president of the UW Alumni Association in 1923.
